=== Moderation Guidelines === | |
||
Basically the moderation guidelines adheres to the [[server rules>>https://nerdculture.de/about]] but there is more to moderation than just enforcing the rules. Here are some more guidelines for moderation: | |
||
* Moderation is not there to solve **your** problems. | |
* Users should try to solve the issue themselves in the first place. The moderation does not exist to solve social problems between users. There is a reason that the server rules include the old rule from Fidonet Policy "//Don't annoy others and don't get easily annoyed by others.//" If you are just dislike a post or embarrased by a post then it is very likely that you are just being upset by someone who has a different opinion and thus this falls under the server rule of not being easily annoyed. Think twice if the post is really to be reported. In most cases it is not. Just ignore dumb posts and proceed. | |
* If you report someone give a good reasoning why you think this post or user should be moderated. Name the specific server rule and describe if and what you already did to solve the problem. For example, if someone posts something you think is sexist for example, than it is better to explain this to the user in question so that he or she can change their mind and learn from it. But if the other person reacts with calling you names, then this might a reason to report that user. | |
* Keep in mind that this is a social network of federated servers where each and every server might have different server rules that are enforced by different moderation teams for each server that might have a different view on things. So when you report a remote user we as moderation team will receive a report as well, but might just close your report on our side as resolved, because it is forwarded to the remote server. Only in severe cases of violating our server rules we will act as well and take action. | |
* When you report users from remote servers make sure that you forward that report to the remote server. Reports that are not forwarded will be marked as resolved. | |
* Remote users should also make reasonable valid and good reports about local users. Reports that are without reasoning or give the impression that the report has been made because the two users just have a different opinion will be marked as resolved without further actions | |
* Apparent violations of our server rules will result in action, no matter who is reporting. It is not unlikely that the misbehaving account will be suspended and deleted.
